Hi SBMC members, we had great fun and success with our NCAA Men’s Basketball Bracket Challenge that we have decided to run a bracket challenge for the 2026 FIFA World Cup! This challenge will be hosted by ESPN where you can fill out your bracket and be able to track your progress throughout the tournament at no charge to the club.
This will serve as a fundraiser for the club, so we can continue to be one of the most premier clubs in Jacksonville. Keep in mind that you do not need to have any knowledge of FIFA to participate, once again this is another sport that I do not follow. By participating in the NCAA bracket challenge, it enhanced the experience for many club members and myself as the tournament played out. Besides enhancing the experience of the tournament, the winner of the bracket pool will receive 50% of the money collected, the runner up will receive 25% of the money collected, and the remaining 25% will go to the club.
There will be a sign-up sheet at the next three meetings if you would like to join the challenge that way instead of here.
The scoring will be as follows:
From all eligible Brackets received, the Grand Prize winner will be the Member who accumulates the most total points during the Promotion Period. You may change your selections until the Lock Time as described below. Points for a correct Match pick in a given round in the Tournament is shown below:
- Round 1 (Round of 32): 25 points per correct Match pick
- Round 2 (Round of 16): 50 points per correct Match pick
- Round 3 (Quarterfinals): 100 points per correct Match pick
- Round 4 (Semifinals): 200 points per correct Match pick
- Round 5 (Final): 400 points per correct Match pick
